Our Mission

Our Mission

Providing school supplies, clothing, and shoes to children in need in the Anglophone East School District.

Why we exist

Every child deserves to start the school year ready to learn.

The Care Free Foundation was born from educator Sarah Dixon’s experience seeing children arrive at school without basic supplies or proper clothing. She has dedicated herself to changing that - one backpack, one outfit, one child at a time.

We work directly with teachers and school staff across the Anglophone East School District to identify the students who need help most. Each child receives a brand-new backpack filled with supplies and a new outfit with shoes - everything they need to walk into school on the first day with confidence.

What We Focus On

School Supplies

Brand-new backpacks filled with grade-appropriate notebooks, pencils, erasers, rulers, and everything a child needs to start the school year.

Clothing & Shoes

New clothing and shoes so every child can attend school with confidence and dignity, no matter their family’s financial situation.

School Partnerships

Working directly with teachers and guidance counsellors across the Anglophone East School District to identify the children who need help most.

Education programs
Education

It started with a teacher who cared

In 2009, Sarah Dixon began her teaching career in New Brunswick and quickly noticed how many children arrived at school without basic supplies or proper clothing. She started buying what she could out of her own pocket - a few backpacks here, some notebooks there. That small act of kindness became the foundation for everything that followed.

Growth and impact
Growth

From a handful of students to district-wide

What started as helping a few students in her own classroom grew year after year. Sarah formalized The Care Free Foundation as a registered charity, built partnerships with schools across the Anglophone East School District, and for the 2025-2026 school year, is committed to helping 150 students - working with teachers and staff to identify the children who need help most.

Our Values

The principles that guide every decision we make and every child we serve.

Every Child Matters

No child should start the school year without the supplies and clothing they need. We believe every child deserves to walk into school on the first day feeling confident and ready to learn.

Community-Driven

Our programs are shaped by the educators who know their students best. Teachers and school staff identify the children who need help, ensuring support reaches those who truly need it.

Transparency & Stewardship

Every dollar donated goes directly to helping children. We are committed to being transparent about how funds are used and ensuring the greatest possible impact with every contribution.
